The River

The Haukadalsá is just under two hours outside of Reykjavik and has achieved recognition as one of the Iceland's most beautiful salmon rivers. In fact, it has become one of the world's most coveted fishing grounds, not least because of the optimal conditions it creates for fly-fishing.

The river extends over some eight kilometers from one pool to the next - forty pools in all, set like pearls in a glistening strand. And because the river flows directly out of a lake, it generally enjoys stable water levels.
